Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer

The Junior Board of the Figure Skating Club of Park City has been working very hard this summer to help organize an event to raise money for the Scott Hamilton CARES foundation.  In case you have not heard, the event will be held at the Park City Ice Arena on Saturday, September 9, 2017 and is called SK8 to Elimin8 Cancer:

  • 10:15 am – 12:45 pm  - Figure Skating Exhibition
  • 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm – 8 Lap Team Races
  • 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm – Public Sk8

One of the highlights of the day will be a Silent Auction of items donated from many generous individuals and companies throughout our community.

The Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation funds world-class research and quality care for cancer survivors. It also funds programs in early detection, advanced diagnostics and leading edge cancer treatment. We are very proud of the hard work that the Junior Board has put into coordinating the event, and know that they are excited to participate in something that has such an impact on a topic that effects so many people that we all know.

The Junior Board Would Love Your Help!

We hope to raise a lot of money to show the Foundation that Park City cares and would love for you to be involved in any way that you can.   How can you help?

  1. Contribute to our Fundraising:  Even a $10.00 donation can go a very long way.  If you can, please visit https://www.crowdrise.com/Sk8toElimin8CancerParkCityUtah.
  2. Skate in the Exhibition:  There are less than 8 spots left.  Skaters will receive a judge’s critique and get to perform in front of the local community.  Singles, duets, groups are all welcome.  You can register at: https://figureskatingclubofparkcity.sportngin.com/register/form/839963176  All skaters in the Exhibition will get a wristband to participate in the rest of the activities
  3. Help us Advertise:  Print a flyer and post it around town or post the event on social media.  The flyer is attached.  Copy this to your social media along with a picture or two of your skater:  SK8 to ELIMIN8 Cancer - Please join (skater’s name) and the Figure Skating Club of Park City's Junior Board on September 9th at the Park City Ice Arena as they raise money for Scott Hamilton CARES https://www.crowdrise.com/Sk8toElimin8CancerParkCityUtah.  Additional information about this very worthy cause can be found at www.scottcares.org  There will be an exhibition from 10:15-12:45 where you can see (skater) and friends take the ice. Team races will be held from 1:00-1:30, followed by an open skate from 1:30-3:30 with a live auction - Everyone is welcome!
  4. Bring Friends to the Event:  A donation will serve as your “ticket” for the day to participate in all of the activities.  In lieu of a donation, a $10.00 per person entry fee will include rental skates and entrance to all of the festivities.
  5. Volunteer to Help:  The Junior Board really needs some help to man the event.  Look for volunteer opps in the next couple of days and sign-up!
  6. Donate an Auction Item:  We are still looking for items.  If you have something or know someone that can help us out please let us know!
  7. Create a Team to Race:  Two teams of 8 skaters will race head to head with each skater racing one lap.  Individual laps will be timed and the fastest skaters will race for the win!

For additional information, to volunteer, to donate an item or enter a race team, please contact Melissa Gready at melissagready@comcast.net

All-Star Awards- Annika Futch, Zoe Hopper, Andee Lyons, Brynn Roberts

Each of the member clubs are asked to nominate an athlete or athletes who exemplify leadership with in their club. Brynn and Amelie were nominated for the Leadership award based on their generous donation to the club from their business, Ice Bunnies Fuzzy Ear Warmers with which they helped purchase the new show curtain.
